Jatobá é um trabalho em andamento no qual fotografo minha família e minha cidade natal, localizada no interior do estado de São Paulo. Aqui, estou interessada em observar como o tempo transforma e modifica espaços, memórias, pessoas e relações. Aqui me interessa pensar o encontro entre as transformações causadas por um sistema capitalista contemporâneo, que remodela cidades e homogeniza territórios, e a memória da minha própria família. Jatobá é o nome do prédio onde vivi na infância e onde minha avó reside atualmente. Jatobá também é o nome de uma árvore que vive mais de cem anos.
Jatobá is an ongoing project in which I document my family and hometown, located in the interior of São Paulo. Here, I am particularly interested in observe how time transforms and modifies spaces, memories, people, and relationships. This work addresses the encounter between the transformations caused by a contemporary capitalist system that re-shapes cities and homogenizes territories, and the memory of my own family. Jatobá is the name of the building where I lived as a child and where my grandmother currently resides.
Jatobá is also the name of a tree that survives for hundreds of years.
